Frak Smeg Gorram
Nov. 24th, 2010 10:47 pmIn the interest of continuing education, I invite everyone to visit this post at Topless Robot that gives English translations and pronunciations for the 15 best examples of Chinese curses. I fully plan to learn & memorize a couple of these to pull out at moments of frustration and insanity.
If foreign language cursing is your thing, here is how to swear in five languages (and a bonus):
Shit (American English)
Shite (British English)
Shiza (German)
Mierda (Spanish)
Mierde (French)
Bonus: Póg mo thóin (pawk maa hawn) is gaelic for 'Kiss my ass'. Some may say it's Irish Gaelic in origin, but it's not: It's shared between Scots, Irish & Welsh gaelic.
If cursing isn't your bag, may I suggest seeing if you can find "Brother, Can you Spare a Dream?", which is a documentary about Hollywood & film in the 1930s.
