So, I'm nearly done with chapter 48 of this Community fanfic I've been writing. Since June 12, apparently. (I just checked because I couldn't remember.)

I desperately want to finish it this coming weekend, because I want to move onto something else.

But also because I feel that it has become irrelevant because it is so entirely AU at this point it's not even remotely amusing.

It's also partly me being worried about being irrelevant, which comes from two years of having it drummed into me in my journalism classes that timeliness is key.

Part of it is also me being (perhaps wrongly & insecurely) concerned that there's only a small group of people still reading this insane piece of melodramatic shit.

I am, however, determined to finish this damn thing because I need to prove to myself that I can finish this. I practically never start anything this big (if I'm not being paid for it), and I've certainly never finished any of the stalled novels I have in notebooks and floppy disks.

I almost regret falling in love with this show & becoming active in the fandom.

I'm going to have start referring to you as Lurky McLurkson. You just walked right into that one.

I did walk right into that one, didn't I? :P

Talk to John and moeexyz about how their stories have been received on FF.net, they both post their stories over there. I haven't seen any issues and the fandom for Community is pretty small on FF.net, but I totally get your concern about posting on there with the censorship and such.

Did I tell you I've had the song for the soundtrack that goes with that scene picked out since August?

Lol you didn't tell me that, what's the song?

I haven't gotten a huge number of comments on the fics I've posted at FF.net, but I've gotten some nice ones. I haven't had any problems with censorship because I don't write the kind of stuff they have problems with. But if you're concerned about it, there's always AO3. I have an account there too but I haven't uploaded anything to it.

Um. ...what's AO3?

Also: Thank you for the input about FF. It's good to know.

Hmm, sincere or snarky? I'll let you choose!

Sincere

Snarky

(They both go to the same place, ultimately.)

I'll definitely ask Marina, especially as John weighed in below & I hadn't really bothered to look on FF for our fandom.

OK, this one stays here: No mentioning or alluding to it in the comments or anything, capice?

Danke. What did you think?

Granted, I'm toying with ripping this acoustic version vs. using the album version for the soundtrack.

I really liked the song. The band in general seem to be pretty awesome. I heard an interview with one of the band members late on Monday night when I was coming home from work and he was just saying how girls have been hitting on him non-stop at shows, it was kinda funny.

I like both the acoustic live version and the studio version. For me the acoustic version wins out. It's got a rawness and edge to the performance, that has been taken away by layers of studio trickery. It'll be a tough decision for you to make though.

On a sort of related note, I really like the lead singer's haircut and the female drummer is awesome. Rock music is such a misogynistic wasteland at the moment (Nickelback, anyone?), so it's great to see a girl rocking out in a band.

I follow the band on Twitter, and apparently they did a show in the last few weeks where a pregnant lady flashed him. :7 I read that tweet & was all, "So...the lead singer is this woman's back up in case it doesn't work out with the baby daddy?"

Exactly: That's what I love about the acoustic version. It has a quality that's absent from the fully produced version.

Yeah. It's awesome to see a girl drummer. Oh, for the days of Sleater Kinney & when Rilo Kiley was still fun.

What are you hoping to get? I've already said I plan to finish this thing this weekend. You haven't expressed any frustration or annoyance with the way I've been writing the characters.

I'm just curious: What good is leverage if there's not anything you can gain by it? :)
